Grace Sunday School
|
Grace UCC provides Sunday school classes for people of every age. These classes meet each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. between our traditional and contemporary services.
In 2004, we began using the Workshop Rotational Model Sunday School, which became Faith in Motion. This approach uses multimedia to teach the lessons of the Bible - making them easier to remember. Each rotation, or unit, will run from four to five weeks and last for one hour. The children will rotate each Sunday to a different space with a different teacher. There they will study one story, using movies, art, computer, storytelling, drama, puppets, cooking, and/or games. Each group will have a ''shepherd" who will accompany them for continuity. The purpose of this type of study is to allow each child to learn in a way that suits them, and to reinforce learning so that each story comes alive. In churches where this method is used, children learn and remember the lessons. They will have fewer stories each year, but in a five or six year rotation, they will cover much of the Bible. In addition to Faith in Motion, there is an active senior high class. Although they are not included in the rotation, they will have an opportunity to use some of the equipment and try some new learning methods.
