Faith In Motion LogoIn 2004 we began the Workshop Rotational Model Sunday school, which we call Faith in Motion

Children are grouped as follows:

 Kindergarten and First Grade

Second and Third Grades

Fourth and Fifth Grades

Middle School: Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grades.

Each rotation, or unit, will run from four to five weeks and last for one hour. The children will rotate each Sunday to a different space with a different teacher. There they will study one story, using movies, art, computer, storytelling, drama, puppets, cooking, and/or games. Each group will have a ''shepherd" who will accompany them for continuity.

The purpose of this type of study is to allow each child to learn in a way that suits them, and to reinforce learning so that each story comes alive. In churches where this method is used, children learn and remember the lessons. They will have fewer stories each year, but in a five or six year rotation, they will cover much of the Bible.

Our first fall rotation for will be a study of The Parable of the Talents which begins September 18th and continues through October 9th. Rotations for the remainder of 2005 will include The Parable of the Lost Things (coin, sheep, son), The Feeding of the 5,000, and a special advent program. The first two studies in 2006 will be Esther and Psalms.

In addition to Faith in Motion, there is an active senior high class. Although they are not included in the rotation, they will have an opportunity to use some of the equipment and try some new learning methods.

There are also adult classes:
bulletJeanie Ransom will lead an adult class called “Dream Seekers”
bulletDana Buchanan will guide a second group on “Who and What is the United Church of Christ?”
